Offshore containers are used for the transshipment on the high seas and are mostly used on offshore drilling platforms. Goods necessary for the viability of drilling platforms are diverse, hence the variation in types of containers for transshipment on the high seas. Construction of offshore containers differs by improved durability and reliability, achieved by using high-strength materials and special supervision of classification societies. Depending on the purpose of offshore containers additional devices are applicable for securing cargo inside container. As a part of a full set of fastenings for offshore containers, chains are mostly used instead of slings. Offshore containers are manufactured under the supervision of international classification societies.
